The Dare ends ‘Does Europe’ tour in Glasgow with “Wild” show

From L.A to New York, New York to L.A, to Europe and finally Glasgow, The Dare, stage name for Harrison Patrick Smith, ended his ‘The Dare Does Europe Tour’ in Glasgow with a sold out show.

Fans came from all across the city and country on Friday night dressed in their Charli XCX brat merch and black and white suits and dresses for the ultimate party to start the weekend and they were not disappointed.

Kirstin, attended the show in a replica of the American star’s signature suit: “I have come here today in my suit inspired by The Dare of course and the concert was absolutely fabulous.”

The American has had a breakout year following the release of his new Album ‘What’s wrong with New York?’ and the success of his collaboration with close friend Charli XCX, when he remixed ‘Guess featuring billie eilish’ for her ‘Brat and it’s completely different but also still brat’ album.

His production has made him the new ‘indie sleaze’ poster boy and he wears it well. The Dare is effortlessly cool and he knows you know it. The coolest former school teacher of all time possibly, which made it all the more perfect when he finally arrived to the stage at at the Queen’s Margaret Union at Glasgow University.

From the second he stepped on stage with his debut album opener ‘Open Up’ and ‘Good Time’  at the beginning of the setlist set the tone, party, and the audience was ready. Harrison has found his way to the thing he was born to do and fans found themselves having the night of their lives.

His tongue and cheek lyrics on tracks such as ‘Sex’ and ‘Perfume’ were chanted by the artist’s younger fan base, a change for him following his success this year. The neon red lights and bright white lights perfectly complimented the feeling of the album, bringing you to a rave on a university campus.

Harrison claims to have destroyed disco but what he nearly destroyed was the venue floors,  which were vibrating with every bounce as he came out to perform his first hit ‘Girls’ which caused every Girl and Gay in Glasgow to lose control, with multiple bras, a few pairs of pants and even a few cigarettes joining him on stage as the night went on.

While the runtime clocked in at just under an hour, a slightly shorter setlist, he commanded the stage every second he stepped on it, and off it. Him exiting the stage and running to the barricade to deafening screams and grabs, made him look like a member of The Beatles. A change following his unsuccessful stage dive at the Bristol date of the tour, which went viral on TikTok after the show.

The star left nothing on the stage which was filled by only himself and his instruments and left fans speechless, including Broghan, who secured an elusive drumstick and setlist after a post show barricade brawl: “Wild, I fear that is the only word I can use to describe, Crazy. Wild. Bonkers.”

The next time The Dare does Glasgow, which will hopefully be soon, I imagine I will be fighting the Great War for tickets as I can only predict phenomenal things for this new leading man of the genre.

‘What’s Wrong With New York?’ is available on all major streaming platforms.
