The Circus Ship will be playing at The Classic Grand on Saturday November 21.
How did you come up with the name The Circus Ship?
It was Harald. We had to come up with something because we had a gig, so we had to just make something up.
Who would you say are your biggest influences?
A lot of Swedish bands actually. The indie scene in the 90s wasn’t even big on the national level. It is now, but it’s quite local to Gothenburg. I think a lot of those bands had an influence.
Franz Ferdinand, and indie bands. The Jam’s probably a favourite, and The Who; lots of bands.
Is the band originally from Sweden?
Three of us are, but one of us is from Grangemouth. His heart’s in Sweden.
What brought you to Glasgow?
We moved here because of studies and work.
How did you get together?
We were looking for a drummer and we asked Disa. We met Daniel last October, from an advert on Gumtree. We wanted to find a permanent bassist. I wish we had a rock and roll story for that. We need to come up with a better story.
Their EP, Barney, is out now, and you can find tickets for their Classic Grand show right here.
