PREVIEW: New Glasgow metal festival will make its debut this week

LOUD new festival Core. from 432 Presents will hit Glasgow’s west end from August 18 to 20.

With a stacked up set including San Francisco alt metal favourites Deafheaven, Chat Pile and newly announced The Big Moon, it’s set to be a weekend filled with sounds of punk, metal and beyond.

Alongside a stellar international line up, there will be a plethora of homegrown noise-makers on the Radical Glasgow Stage.

You’ll be able to catch Orkney-bred, central-based grind-punk titans, Fit To Work, as well as alongside local favourites Hard Stare, Civil Elegies, Goth GF and Brat Coven.

Belfast queer feminist four piece Problem Patterns will also make an appearance. As will Scottish rising hopefuls Bleaks, Moni Jitchell and Headcleaner.

David Weaver, Core. festival co-founder and organiser, said: “Scotland has such a thriving and diverse alternative music scene. From old school thrash metal, to queer punk, to industrial noise, there are some amazing scenes in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee and beyond.

“On top of that, touring bands often mention Scottish crowds as being some of their favourite in the world.

“We wanted to bring both things together – an opportunity to bring some of the most exciting heavy acts in the world to Glasgow, and a chance to showcase some of the best DIY and underground bands and scenes that Scotland has to offer.”

He goes on to praise heavy music as one of the “most progressive and diverse” genres of music which he is eager to showcase with Core.

Last minute Core. tickets are on sale here.
