Last night marked the opening of new Glasgow club 500 GWR with a night of techno, house and disco driven by three international DJs.
The club takes over the space at 500 Great Western Road, previously owned by Viper Club.
Viper announced its closure only last September, no longer operating as a nightclub despite continuing to host special events.
500 GWR is pushing for a no-camera dancefloor, encouraging visitors to “smile and enjoy the experience” in the small space.
The refurbished venue has been fitted with a Funktion-One sound system, the same system previously used by internationally-renowned club The Arches.
Upcoming events include DJ sets from Katie Goodman, Craig Hamilton and Rebüke, with a number of special guests lined up for the venue’s two opening nights.
Tickets for this weekend are on sale now, with limited numbers kept for on the door visitors.
News of the opening has been well-received, coming shortly after concerns that Glasgow club Subclub may be under threat.
The club’s director has explained he is worried following the approval of a Wetherspoons development plan nearby, mentioning the issue of noise control.
