The retail scene of Glasgow will never be the same again. As many of you might have seen while walking down Buchanan Street in Glasgow, we now have the first Scottish Victoria’s Secret store.
The brand confirmed an expected opening date around the end of April this year (and got lots of us excited since then). The store finally opened at 9 am on Wednesday 26th September and attracted many women that were queuing outside in the rain to get in. They had amazing offers running from the Wednesday to the Sunday with all bras for only £20, and all panties, scents and lotions for £5, it can only be assumed that these breathtaking offers were what was causing the queues during these days.
Coming into the store is a bit overwhelming as you need to orientate yourself where everything is. They have a part with all lingerie, bras etc and then one with all the scents and then a section of the store for the VS PINK collection, so once you got it figured out, it’s easy. The store looks beautiful and obviously the same as other VS stores. Behind the till you can find big screens that show the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show which is pretty cool.
One downside, which was to be expected, was that the queue for the till was long. Very long. That was noticeable straight when you came in as the queue went through half of the store (at least that’s what it felt like standing in there). On the plus side, it was super quick getting into a fitting room. The fitting rooms have a button on the inside which you can press if you need help and an assistant will be with you shortly after. They also provide a free bra fitting service and write the measurements down on a card for you. Overall, the staff seemed very friendly and helpful even though they must have all been very busy.
All in all, the VS Opening had a lot of attention and offered great promotions. If you spent over £20, you got a Victoria’s Secret Glasgow Tote Bag for free with your purchase as well.
The queues to get into the store and to pay were long but the offers were amazing! Personally, I would have thought they would make the store entrance and the outside a bit more exciting for the opening, for example, have big balloons there or something similar, but the store itself is beautiful and I am excited to come back when it’s not that busy.
And a little tip at the end: They offer a 10% student discount. Make sure you ask for it, as not every assistant will ask if you are a student and many of us didn’t know they even offered a student discount.
