Glasgow born James McAvoy is set to received the Cinema City Honorary Award 2025 at the Glasgow Film Festival on 2 March.

The award sets to recognise filmmakers that have made an outstanding contribution to cinema and with McAvoy’s directorial debut on the way, there is no better time to honour one of Scotland’s greatest stars.

The Hollywood superstar will be presented the award following his in-conversation event.

McAvoy will also attend the Glasgow Film Festival to introduce a screening of The Last King of Scotland (2006), the X-Men star’s breakout role.

The Glasgow Film Festival will run at Glasgow Film Theatre and venues across the city from 26 February to 9 March.

Tickets for The Last King of Scotland are on sale at glasgowfilm.org and at GFT Box Office (12 Rose Street, Glasgow – 0141 332 6535).
