Detroit: Become Human is a third person interactive storytelling experience, created by developers Quantic Dream. The story is set in the not too distant future where the human race has created androids that do most of the undesirable jobs in society and has thus created a new class of citizen.
The game takes place in the city of Detroit, Michigan, USA, as the name suggests. Much like with the car industry boom in the early to mid-20th century, it seemed like the ideal place to have the setting for en-masse android production.
There have been two playable characters revealed so far, Kara and Connor; both of who are androids. Not much is known about the main plot at this time but it seems to be that there are some androids that are ‘malfunctioning’ and acting out of character. There is plenty of speculation as to why, but no facts at this time.
Detroit: Become Human, takes the model from previous Quantic Dream games and puts it to the nth degree. The possibilities that have been shown from trailers and gameplay footage show that Quantic Dream have massively Stepped up their game for the current generation of consoles.
This is the third Sony Playstation exclusive title that Quantic Dream have made in the past decade, the others being the critically acclaimed Heavy Rain and less well received Beyond: Two Souls. The company has a strong history of creating amazing branching narratives that have numerous possible outcomes and ways to reach them.
The game has been in development since 2013 and currently has no release date but it has been confirmed to be missing the 2016 launch window.
