‘A Nonsense Christmas’ review: Sabrina delivers holiday magic

Sabrina Carpenter has graced Netflix with a new special – ‘A Nonsense Christmas’. It is a magical holiday special that gives the perfect blend of humour, charm and festive fun. With great guest appearances and beautiful costumes, it’s impossible to not get swept up by the world she creates.

Sabrina embodies the classic ‘it girl’ of the 50s and 60s – think Faye Dunaway or Janet Leigh – glamourous, graceful and charming. I’m obsessed with how easily she manages to channel that old-school classy energy while also keeping things fresh and modern.

The sketches littered throughout the special are a standout, showcasing Sabrina’s amazing comedic timing. She absolutely needs to host ‘Saturday Night Live’ at some point in her career – I know she would be of those iconic hosts like Ariana Grande or Ryan Gosling. The ‘What Do I Get My Brother-In-Law’ sketch was my favourite by far, I’ll be signing it to myself well into the New Year!

Adding to the charm is how cozy the special feels. Sabrina has created an environment that feels welcoming and personal despite having ‘an unlimited budget’. It feels like you’re spending the holidays with her.

And how could I not mention ‘Last Christmas’ with Chappell Roan – utterly insane in the best way. They sound incredible together. The collaborations with Shania Twain and Tyla are great too, obviously, but the way Sabrina and Chappell sound together is truly gorgeous – we need them to make a song together ASAP.

Sabrina’s creativity shines in every moment, right through to the blooper reel (seriously, bring back blooper reels).

All in all, ‘A Nonsense Christmas’ is a breath of fresh air. It’s funny, heartfelt and endlessly rewatchable. Sabrina Carpenter has gifted us a holiday special that feels like an instant classic. I loved every second and can’t wait to see what she dreams up next.
