The Scoop on Glasgow’s First Ice Cream AND Churro Bar

Deadlines are approaching thick and fast at university, before your brain starts to melt staring at a computer screen for hours on end, take a break and grab a bite to eat. Head to Loop & Scoop for a heavenly sweet treat or two.

Loop & Scoop is the first ever ice cream and churro bar in the UK which happens to be located on Great Western Road in Glasgow’s West End.

The shop is bursting with bright colours and has a modern aesthetic to it, inside there were comfy booths and lovely spaced out tables. The shop roughly sits 70-80 people with an upstairs room (and also the music playlist was a treat), but your task will be to find a seat because the shop is constantly busy even at 6pm in the evening.

Below is fresh to order churros with a white chocolate dipping sauce, and let me tell you how AMAZING these were. The churros had a crunch when you first bite into them, but then that soft and sweet dough in the middle. The staff advise that you will need to wait 10 minutes as they are made fresh, but honestly it felt quicker than that!

The churros can come in a variety of ways here. The iconic one being the “Loop & Scoop” – a giant loop of churro covered in melted chocolate and rolled in either chopped nuts or crushed cookies, and served with 2 scoops of the ice cream flavour of your choosing. It sounds completely messy but the dessert dream!

On the other hand, if you want something more delicate they do a Churro Cup, a Churro oyster or a churro stuffed with nutella, biscoff, peanut butter or caramel.

I had to get a milkshake because my meal wouldn’t be complete without one.  There are 4 flavours to choose from including Oreo Cookie. The milkshake was really rich in flavour and had the perfect thick consistency. It was chocolatey goodness in my mouth!

The only downside for me was the cookie pieces were soggy when I got to the bottom. I rely on texture because my taste sense is quite weak especially since winter is approaching, so the cookie pieces just didn’t feel right for me in my mouth (but I am sure it won’t be the same case for you.)

To top it all off, I had to get some ice-cream because they are called Scoop for a reason right?

In the cabinet they had 12 delicious flavours to choose from, so after a good amount of time pondering… I choose Pumpkin Spice, Belgian Chocolate and Biscoff.

The ice cream is made by hand fresh every day. The options change regularly so you might struggle to try every flavor! A few options that were on offer that had me drooling were: Black Vanilla, Nutella, Reece’s Pieces, and Honeycomb.

It is the creamiest ice cream I have tasted in Glasgow. The ice cream melts in your mouth and then burst of flavours kick in and grab your taste buds. Unfortunately, I did not manage to eat all of the ice cream because I was so full.

The staff are super friendly and know how to make you smile. They bring your food to your table for you. The staff know their products, and, even make some recommendations for those who are not born natural decision makers!

I will definitely be heading back very soon.
